Celebrating Culture: Kelikume Fashion and Styling SS21 – Heritage Collection.

For SS21, seasoned fashion designer; Kelikume Joy Oziomaaka built a bridge between traditional aso-oke and modern styles creating a cultural fusion.

Kelikume just released her SS21 Heritage Collection, which was inspired by the brilliance of traditional Nigerian aso oke. Aso oke is a hand-woven fabric that is known for its vibrant colors and intricate patterns. Kelikume used aso oke to create a collection of modern and trendy outfits, including dresses, skirts, blouses, and pants.

The heart of this collection was Kelikume bringing the aforementioned traditional aso-oke style of the 1900s into the 2020s, bringing some equivalence to the glamour and modernism of Kelikume’s designs.

In the opening looks Kelikume; did this by taking the dramatic sweep of a gown into something cuter, shorter, with exaggerated shoulders, which were mirrored in the following looks.

It is been praised by fashion critics for its creativity and originality, and it has worn by celebrities and fashion icons around Nigeria.
