Nigerian bespoke fashion brand MAI ATAFO, founded by Ohimai Atafo debuts new womenswear collection “Hybrid”. The collection features twin sisters,Tiffany and Stephanie as the Muse, with the idea of recreating each look in identical pairs.
The collection is a fusion of styles from the brand’s various lines. It has elements of the Bridal Atelier, Menswear Suit & Traditional wear, infusing an element of each line to create the Hybrid collection. There’s an authentic mix and harmony of masculinity and femininity which features tulles, velvet, lace, satin, sheer, delicate hand beaded corsets, tartan & the isiagu.

The collection draws the isiagu from the Igbo people of Eastern Nigeria. It is loosely translated as ‘head of the lion’. It is mostly worn by the king, who is known to be confident and strong. The white tee & turtleneck Isiagu-infused top from the collection depicts women as strong and confident.
The white corset, hi-low tulle skirt with a crop jacket and ivory jacquard suit is the touch of bridal added to the collection for women who defy the norm. The glen plaid suit and tuxedo paired with a black corset adds a feminine touch to an otherwise menswear.
The burgundy traditional and tuxedo mix is a feminine interpretation of the brand’s famous menswear tuxedo and trad done with velvet and finished with trimmings.
This collection debuted earlier this year on the Arise Fashion Week runway alongside the Mai Atafo Menswear line. See the collection below
