Cynthia Abila Draws Inspiration From The Niger-Delta With “Alydia”

Cynthia Abila recently released her Spring/Summer 2019 collection which she titled “Alydia”.Her trip to the South-South (Niger-Delta) region of the country birthed the idea of the collection.

The inspiration was got from the way the people in this region celebrated the dead. The collection was also inspired by life’s vitaility and a life well spent.

The opulence motivated the aesthetics, color scheme and fabrication, using the krukrubite, a hamd woven fabric native to the Niger-Delta people. Her trip, documented through the collection gave rise to the name, in which she was the center of the euphoria.
