Wonderful Benefits Of ACV And How To Make Yours At Home

Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) has so many health benefits. You can also use it for both skin and hair.

The health benefits of apple cider vinegar(ACV) include its ability to regulate blood sugar levels, boost weight loss, improve gut health, lower cholesterol levels,aid in detoxification, and enhance skin health.


It has also been known to speed up metabolism and provides relief from high blood pressure, arthritis, dep, asthma and cancer. This wonderful natural product is a must have in every home.

Apple cider vinegar(ACV) is made from ripe, freshly crushed, apples that are fermented and passed through a rigorous process to develop the final vinegar product.

Unfiltered, organic apple cider vinegar(ACV) contains a colony of bacteria, referred to as the “mother”, which has a cobweb-like appearance. This bacteria is gut-friendly and is often considered the most nutritious part of the apple cider vinegar. So make sure the one you buy contains the ‘mother’.

Uses of apple cider vinegar

 Eczema remedy

Dab ACV on the eczema.


 Skin toner

Use equal parts water and ACV for a skin toner.

 Natural astringent for acne

Mix 1 part water 1 part cider vinegar, dip in cotton ball and apply to the face until dry, then rinse.


Drink 2 tsp in 8 oz of water to help relieve arthritis symptoms.

For weight loss

Drink a tablespoon in a glass of water. It quenches your thirst and also works for weight loss.

Help blood glucose levels

Drink it in water all day.

For dry scalp / dandruff treatment

Add ACV to your shampoo before washing.

Hair rinse / hair wash / hair soak

Add about a cap full of it into a water bottle along with filling the bottle up to half with warm water. Leave it in your hair for a few minutes then rinse out.

For washing fruits and veggies/wash produce

Put in a spray bottle diluted with water for cleaning, especially veggies and fruits.

  • 3 small apples (core and peel included, no stem)
  • 3 tsp raw sugar (I used muscavado)
  • filtered water to cover – I used about 800ml, you might need to use more or less depending on what jar/container you use, it’s shape and how the chopped apples sit in it; the most important thing is to add just enough water to cover the apples and ensure they are submerged.
  1. Wash and chop your apples into medium sized pieces (or use the peels and cores of 6-7 small apples after making a pie). Place them in a clean, rinsed and sterilized wide mouth jar.
  2. Mix the sugar with 1 cup of water and pour on top of the apples.
  3. Add more water if needed to cover the apples.
  4. Cover the jar with a paper towel or a cheesecloth and secure it with a band. This keeps nasties away while letting the liquid breathe.
  5. Place the jar in a warm, dark place for 2-3 weeks
  6. Strain out the liquid and discard the apple pieces.
  7. Return the liquid to the same jar and cover it again (same paper or cheesecloth).
  8. Return the jar to the same warm, dark place and leave it to do its thing for roughly 4 to 6 weeks, stirring with a plastic or wooden spoon every few days.
  9. After the first 4 weeks, you can begin to also taste your vinegar and once it reaches an acidity you like, you can actually transfer it to a bottle with a lid and begin using it.
