What The Stars Wore To The 2017 Met Gala

The 2017 Met Gala has come and gone as as expected, the world was left with some indelible fashion statements by the celebrities that graced the occasion.

The Met Gala, also known as the Met Ball is officially called the Costume Institute Gala. It is a fundraiser that is held annually and is for the benefit of the Metropolitan Musuem of Art’s Costume Institue which is in New York. The event, each year has a celebrity who is the chairperson for the occasion.

The event has a theme and attendees are expected to dress in costumes or outfits that reflect that year’s theme. The event also marks the grand opening of the Institute’s annual fashion exhibit, thus the dressing theme. The exhibition holds for several months and millions of dollars are raised at this exclusive gala.

The event has been actively held since 1946 to the present time and the 2017 edition held on the 1^st of May.

Here are some of the outfits that caught our attention for the night.

This year’s theme was called Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garcons: Art of the In-Between. A fashion meets art theme which a lot of celebrities tried to re-create with the help of the most famous of designers.  The celebrity honorary chairpersons for the year were Katy Perry ad Pharrell Williams.

The Met Gala is the Oscars of the Fashion world as the different designers try to make the best dressed list with their creations and get talked about too.

The night has a cocktail, formal dinner and also entertainment by artistes too.
