Fringe is all the rave at the moment and you know that whatever is trending, everyone wants to get on the bandwagon, especially when it comes to fashion and fringe dresses are certainly not the exception to this rule.
Fringe is a decorative trim on clothing items which adds a bit of flow and sway as the wearer moves around. This fashion embellishment is trending but it is not a newcomer in the scene as it has been around for hundreds of years.
The earliest account of fringe can be traced back to Mesopotamia (modern day Iraq) ad even though their version of it is no longer available now, art works left behind by this ancient culture gives credence to them having had this piece of fashion during their time.
Native Americans (Indians) are also pioneers of the fringe culture in clothing as their primary material for their fringes were leather and suede which were cut into strips or twisted into cords. Fringe made its debut into the modern fashion era from the 1920s, fell out of the scene for years and came back in full force from the 1950s.
Nowadays, fringe is not only made from leather but other materials as well. They have been incorporated into dresses, jackets, skirts, sleeves, shawls and other items of clothing. In the past year, fashion designers in Nigeria have gotten hold of this fever trend and continued to wow their clients with their creations.
