Using Onion Juice for Hair
Hair loss is something a lot of people dread, both men and women. After all, our hair is our crowning glory. For a lot of men that suffer from alopecia (hair loss) they can opt to go for clean cut all the time, but women do not have that luxury. It can lead to mental and emotional stress as well as loss of confidence, when the hair loss is excessive and noticeable to others.
There are quite a lot of things that cause hair loss, for some, it may be due to hormonal changes (some pregnant women face this issue), it may be genetic to others, or it may even be due to poor handling of hair. Whatever the reason may be, there have been some touted remedies for this issue and today, we bring you one natural, safe and tested option.
Onion juice has been used for many years to combat the issue of hair loss, note though, humans shed hairs every day, almost 100 strands a day, but when it gets excessive, that is when it is alarming. I am yet to meet someone that onion doesn’t make them tear up (why do the good stuff have to be so tasking). Onion is very rich in sulphur, which is one of the minerals that is the “building block” of hair thereby providing the hair follicles with nourishment; hair loss has been linked to the absence of sulphur proteins. Sulphur also helps in the production of collagen tissues, which is necessary for hair growth and it boosts the circulation of blood to the scalp as well. Onion also has anti-bacterial properties which prevents infections that may be contributing factors to loss of hair. It also contains catalase, which is an enzyme that may help offset premature graying of hair in some people.
Knowing this quick facts on how onion works for the hair, let us go on how to extract and apply the juice.
To extract the juice, you can use a blender, grater or food processor or even a juicer. If you are using a grater, you can squeeze out the juice by hand after grating it. If you have a muslin or cheese cloth, you can use that to get the juice out as well. Ensure you have used enough onions to cover your hair. Some people react to onions, it is suggested that you do a patch test first to ensure you are not one of them.

After squeezing out the juice, gently massage it into your scalp, covering as much ground as you need to. You can cover your hair with a plastic or shower cap for about 15 mins or for as long as you can stand the smell and then wash off with shampoo afterwards.
You can do this every day, twice a week or even every wash day till you see changes.
We all know onion has a strong odor and no one wants to walk around with the onion smell, to get the smell out, put some lemon juice in warm water and rinse your hair with it.
Try this onion juice remedy for a while to be on your way to stronger and healthier hair.
