Highlight and contour is a dream for every girl who loves making up. When you become a pro at this, you can beat your chest like King Kong as it is your ticket to a chiseled look. The illusions that can be created on the face using a few products and time can be awesome! On the other hand though, it can also seem overwhelming initially till you get a hang of it.

The best thing you can do is to get the right products for your skin type and tone and use the right b rushes and sponges to blend the products. Blending is key here as it smoothens out the products and prevents harsh lines.
Also, baking the highlights on the face is important in order to set the highlight, but for those with dry skin, you may just dab little of the highlighting powder in and skip the baking step
Few things to note when highlighting and contouring dark skin
Not every black woman is a “laiskin dame” there are some of us that have really dark skin and sometimes, it may be daunting finding products that are dark enough to contour with. I was able to come across some tips for contouring with dark skin
Instead of focusing on getting a dark cream or liquid foundation or concealer to contour with, you can make use of your brow pencil. Yeah! Remember that that pencil is dark enough to pop on your face? It can also be used to contour. Ensure you blend it in well though.
Also, you can use powder contour as well. There are some shadows that are dark enough to still pop on the face.
Also, the tip to contouring is to highlight strategically, as your dark skin can even form a “natural” contour. Use a concealer or contour cream that is 1-2 shades lighter than you natural skin tone. Focus on the under eye area, bridge of nose, center of the chin and forehead, points where light naturally falls on your face and ensure you blend the cream in well. Adding an illuminating liquid or shimmery highlighter gives that extra pop of brightness to the face.
Always round up by setting your highlight (with a translucent powder) and using a setting powder all over your face for a flawless finish.
