The 2019 Met Gala, usually known for its fashionable moments, had some iconic looks (as usual) in this year’s edition. The event, which is known for its exclusive guest list and pricey tickets had the theme: Celebrating Camp: Notes on Fashion.
The outfits this year were therefore, like the exhibition, based on “irony, humour, parody, pastiche, artifice, theatricality and exaggeration”.
The Met Ball is officially called the Costume Institute Gala. It is a fundraiser that is held annually and is for the benefit of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute which is in New York. The event, each year has a celebrity who is the chairperson for the occasion.
The event has been actively held since 1946 to the present time and the 2017 edition held on the 1st of May.
